hello!

Whether you’re a friend or a stranger, thank you for pointing your browser at my personal homepage. My name is Michael Schutte and I am a computer scientist and human hearing researcher (both in that I am human, and in that I study the auditory system of humans) in the working group of Benedikt Grothe at LMU in Munich, Europe. Until Lutz Wiegrebe passed away in 2019, I had the pleasure of being part of his lab along with Ella Lattenkamp, Leonie Baier and others. As of late 2020, I am in the process of finishing my PhD at the Graduate School of Systemic Neurosciences. At the same time, I am developing a real-time system for the simulation of room acoustics, based on the RAZR model created at the lab of Stephan Ewert at the University of Oldenburg.

I live in Munich and Berlin, and I still feel attached to my beautiful hometown of Innsbruck in the Alps. Outside of work, I’m a fan of almost all physical activities that are about getting from A to B (such as bicycling, hiking, swimming or canoeing). I also love to travel further than the energy of my own body can take me, preferably by train. At home, I have a habit of disappearing in the kitchen for hours to cook and bake bread. I am also very interested in a variety of topics which I’m sadly not formally educated in, such as human language, urban planning and design.
